PHILOSOPHY
Ioulia Lazou was born in Athens. She is a graduate in Architecture from the National Technical University of Athens. She also holds a MSc degree from the Technical University in Barcelona, where she graduated with distinction.
She has worked on the design & construction of private spaces and buildings and has been awarded in architectural competitions. Since her student years, she has been involved in graphic design, jewellery and furniture design.
Her multilateral involvement in various forms of expressions arises from the fact that she perceives architecture as the centre of an expanded field of experimentation, “playing” every time with the scale/size/material/user and function and adjusting that to the conditions of each project.
Her architectural background is reflected in the jewellery design, where aesthetics are driven from a search on materiality and scale. Moreover, her conceptual approach comes also as a result of her studies and professional experience as an architect. She defines jewellery as the minimum architectural three-dimensional form that can exist in space.
Ioulia seeks inspiration from the city and its residents.
She has collaborated with the shops of Museum Benaki and many others galleries in Athens and Sifnos.
Currently, she works in Athens as a freelance architect.
